Erie, Colorado

The town of Erie, CO was incorporated in 1874. This former coal town was first settled by a Methodist minister from Erie, PA; thus the name of Erie. Erie is a suburb of Denver, located approximately 25 minutes north of Denver and 20 minutes east of Boulder.

According to City-Data.com the 2017 population of Erie was approximately 24,234; the median household income was $111,588; and the estimated median home value was $543,698.

The Erie Community Center is a hub of community activity--offering everything from fitness areas to indoor and outdoor playgrounds for the children, aquatics, gymnasiums, climbing apparatus and a cycle garage.

Fishing and trail walking is available nearby on the 33 acres of Thomas reservoir. Colorado National Golf Club (foremerly Vista Ridge) is the premier golf course on Colorado's front range. The golf club hosts a hot air balloon festival every May.

Biking enthusiasts will love the two trails that can be found at the Erie Singletrac. Trails are available for cyclists (and runners) at all levels. In addition, Erie is home to the Boulder Valley Velodrome --one of 26 steep banked cycle racing tracks in the US. It is also open to spectators.

The Erie Municipal Airport, owned by the town of Erie, is located on Colorado Highway 7, just three miles west of Interstate 25. The community of Erie Air Park is a unique subdivision of single family homes, most of the homeowners are aviation enthusiasts and most have direct access to the runway from their own homes. Vector Air offers flight instruction or aircraft rentals at the airport.
