Arvada, Colorado
The City of Arvada is located just slightly northwest of Denver, CO. In fact, historic (and very popular) Olde Town Arvada is just 7 miles nw of the State Capitol in downtown Denver. Arvada was founded in 1850 when gold was first discoved in the Rocky Mountains. Originally named Ralston Pointe, the name of the township was changed to Arvada in order to avoid confusion with other communities along the Ralston Creek. The town was incorporated in 1904.
The 2019 estimated population according to City-Data.com of Arvada is 121,272 with an average income of $ 75,640 and an average home price of $409,000. The Regional Trasportation District (RTD) offers many local bus routes, express bus routes and one regional bus route through Arvada. Arvada is mostly a commuter city for Boulder and Denver. The G-Line light rail service also is available in Arvada.
In 2017 USA Today named Arvada the #3 best city to live in! Part of the appeal to Arvada is small town life with access to big city amenities. Also, Arvada is well known for it's biking trails. 51 Arvada Bike Maps.
Arvada boasts many local restaurants, such as the School House, the Yak and Yeti, Fuzzy's Taco Shop, Steuben's: lounges including the The Bluegrass Lounge (a coffee and bourbon lounge), The Ralston Lounge, Bouttime Pub, The Arvada Tavern; and breweries including Denver Beer Co.
Arvada offers a large array of recreational activities. Apex Park and Recreation District presents opportunities for sports, arts, music, sports leagues, education and more. The Arvada Center reignites the arts with performances, galleries and education.
A plethora of other activities are available in Arvada. Check out Two Ponds National Wildlife Refuge, the Arvada Blunn Reservoir and Ralston Creek Trail, or The Cussler Museum, and Sky Zone Trampoline Park for for some indoor fun.
Shopping doesn't get much better than the Arvada Farmer's Market (open June-September).
